Just figured I should set up a general post for…whatever. I do hate the quietness in Wareville, but news will come when it comes.
I am poking along with website tidying. Came across about 50 clips from 2006 that I had posted in the old (bad!) small format that I used to be limited to, so I have been converting them and am uploading them now. Yeah, I know…it’s a stretch, excitement-wise, but it’s all I’ve got at the moment!
(During that quiet week between Christmas and New Year’s I decided to set up a blog for personal yakking of the non-Ware variety. First I couldn’t decide on a clever WP name, ended up going with a blah one. Then I couldn’t decide on a blog title, ended up with a meh one, because at least that can be changed whenever. Then I spent a while choosing the layout, since I wanted it to look different than this one, lest I accidentally zig when I meant to zag. Then I discovered that the layout I chose wouldn’t allow me to change the font without jumping through six kinds of hoops… and I gave up. So believe me, converting and uploading old clips is an improvement!)
Okay, carry on…
What a good idea for a blog of the Non-Ware variety. It is too quiet in Wareville. Do we know how Michael Ware is keeping? Is he still returning to CNN?
He’s hanging in there… But no official word on his CNN status yet.
Not sure what to comment. I wanted to comment something sooooo something?
I bet your password is Password, right?
A “Cyn, personal yakking” blog would be GREAT
I’m with Mavis here…. something…. yada, yada, yada…. blaa blaa blaa….
Oh, I know lets come up with catchy titles for the new blog!
The Deadly Cyn!
The Daily Cyn!
Original Cyn (my personal favorite)
The Personal History and Experience of Cynthia Delmar, the younger (my apologies to Charles Dickens)
That’s all I got.
Like Original Cyn!!
LOL Love the “Original Cyn” idea, but someone already has that. (I was actually going to do one that didn’t identify me as, well, me. I set one up months ago called Why~Abouts — I know; too cute by half — but then I thought, who needs to listen to me blather on any more than I already do? LOL But I find that I need to write. And vent. And generally blather. Doing it anonymously at least makes it seem less egotistical!)
Your writing holds my attention , is good to read. Hopefully you won’t do this anonymously.
Awww, now THAT is music to an unpublished writer’s ears!
I blush and grin… Thanks.
I love “Original Cyn” too, what a shame that it’s already taken, but I understand you wanting to be anonymous Cyn. It is quiet without Mr. Ware, but I do hope he’s well and perhaps working on his book? Happy New Year everyone and I wish you all a great 2011!
Yes quiet without Mr Ware. Iraq- The Full Story by Yuri Kozrev with texts by Michael Ware and Brian Bennet should be available to buy in March of this year. Hopefully Michael is working on his book. But he may be more comfortable collaborating with other journalists and photographers. What do you think?
I’m sure it must be easier to write about someone else’s work (especially such incredible work as Yuri’s) rather than trying to put his own pain into words. I think it will be a long time before we have his book… but we’ll have it eventually. Meantime, it’s good that he’s got other things going on. He and Yuri made such a great team, this should be a fascinating book.
You should be published Cyn!
Ooh, I hope the publishing world agrees with you, DC!
Yes there is definitely a book there waiting to be published.
I’m wondering with all this flooding happening in Australia,, which is now affecting Brisbane, whether anyone from CNN is going to give Michael a call to see how he’s doing. I mean, it looks pretty bad.
I hope someone from CNN does care enough to give Michael a call to see how he is doing. I don’t know if he lives near his parents who live in Ferny Grove or how Ferny Grove is going. The Brisbane River has yet to peak. It is expected to get higher around 3 oclock this afternoon then it should get to its highest level around 4 in the Morning Australian time Thursday. I was in the Brisbane City Centre Tuesday morning around mid-day we were advised to leave the area due to the water that was already rising then. Thankfully living on a mountain means we have no concerns as to flood danger. I hope that Michael and his family are safe. Thanks DC for thinking of Michael.
Ferny Grove is above the river so it seems to be okay, judging by the maps the city council are posting, etc. Michael lives in the CBD, so his building is likely an island by now… hope he stocked up on food and libations before this hit! And candles, since the electricity was shut down yesterday for safety reasons.
Flood waters are bad enough (I once had to clean up the remains of my book collection with a shovel; depressing) but this flood water has snakes and crocs in it. *shudder*
As for anyone from CNN calling him… I wouldn’t bet on it. They seem to be more the “out of sight, out of mind” folks.
What a disappointment that CNN have not contacted Michael given the value and humanity he put into his reporting. Yes he would have to be well prepared given he would be without electricity. I am sure he is very resourceful given his life experiences. Perhaps this will be added at the end of his book. The hardest is always the cleanup, no croc’s to contend with but there are the snakes.
Just saw a tweet that Michael was on Nine news about half an hour ago. Anyone catch it?
Good that Michael is Safe and well enough to talk to the media. Unfortunately I did not see him on the Nine News.
I’m still at work, but a little French birdie tells me that Tommy Evans made an appearance on BackStory today. He’s working with Ben Wedeman in Tunisia… ah, the joys of teargas! Shall post it when I get home.
French birdies are not as reliable as they used to be: Tommy was in yesterday’s BackStory too! Me think this French birdie should be cooked with some mushrooms and onions and being tasted with a nice Burgundy’s Pinot Noir glass!
Mon Dieu! Then where would I get my fine French tidbits from! Non, non, non… I shall seek out yesterday’s clip du jour as well. Monsieur Evans shall be tres bon represented!
Merci, mon cherie!

Yes, I was a slacker last night and didn’t get the Tommy clips up… above is the link to the one CNN posted. Thanks!
