US publisher set

November 10, 2009 · 14 Comments

Michael now has a US publisher for his book. Random House was the high bidder at an auction set up by his literary agent. The description: CNN foreign correspondent and former Time Magazine Baghdad bureau chief Michael Ware’s BETWEEN ME AND THE DEAD, the author’s unvarnished first-hand account about the brutal experience of war, by one of the few mainstream reporters to have lived in Baghdad near-continuously since before the American invasion of Iraq … no date information was included in the announcement.

Good for him and for us. Thanks Cyn for the good news. Any news on your power book?

Oh, Max is still hanging in there, duct tape is a wonderful thing…

It has been announced that John King will be getting Lou Dobbs’ timeslot at the beginning of the year. Ever since Lou went postal on the whole immigration issue, I’ve been wondering whether Michael was never on LDT because Lou didn’t ask him or because Michael refused the invites… especially since he did occasionally appear when there was another person sitting in for Lou!

At any rate, this gives us another hour when we might see Michael in the future. Hey, it’s ALMOST primetime!

I’m excited for JK to be in prime time- even though the over-fill of politics is driving me a little mad.
As for MW’s book, is it wrong to be excited for a book that is going to depress me to no end? I’m conflicted.

I know… I am going to have to lock myself away someplace for the first read of the book. It’s going to be a tough one. Yet I am looking forward to it…

If Michael refused the invites to Lou Dobbs my respect just doubled for him. Glad that John King will have his spot.
I am looking forward to reading Michael’s book also and can not wait until it comes out.

Sorry but I don’t think Michael refused invitations to appear on Lou Dobb’s show. He is above all of that and would welcome the chance to set the record straight and speak his mind. If anything, Dobbs knew he could not hold his own to Mick.

That’s an interesting point, Maxie. I believe the same thing about Michael. He would go anywhere and say what he thinks no matter what. I’m also looking forward to the book. I hope it’s soon.

Oh, he definitely would speak his mind no matter what — I just don’t think he suffers fools gladly. Well, there is one less fool to worry about now!

So much good news in one week,
Michael is writing a book and Lou is going.

I wonder if John King will still do State of the Nation? I hope so.

Nice to hear things are moving forward on the book front. Good for Michael.

I’m also *very* glad to see Dobbs go. What do you want to bet he’ll pop up on Fox Noise any day now?? I think Maxie is right on with her comment. I think Dobbs knew that Michael would bury him in less than fifteen seconds on the immigration issue. Michael knows the facts, and facts are something that never interested Dobbs.

BTW… on the book thing. If you keep an eye on the big bookstores’ websites (B&N, Borders, etc.) they have arrival dates for books that will be published in the near future. I think they go about four months out. That might be another way to see when Michael’s book will be published (well, when it’ll arrive in stores, at any rate).
