I’m glad you left in the discussion with Paul Begalia on your clips site. It just makes sense to leave the whole segment in and plus I like Begalia. I like Michael better of course.

I like Paul too, but if they hadn’t cut back to Michael I’m afraid he would have ended up on my cutting room floor, even though it was a good discussion. It makes for a much bigger/longer clip, but I’m glad they gave me a reason to include it all!

I am very happy to know that the beginnings of an awakening are forming in Afghanistan.
It seems to me, that the root of the whole success of the surge in Iraq was in the people, not government forced.
With those same situation available, there is hope.

There is an interesting article from Marc Lynch (AKA Abu Aardvark) on Foreign Policy’s website that gives some more details about the growing rift between the Taliban and al Qaeda. Michael has mentioned some of the online chatter that points to this, and this article provides more detail.
